Anonymous asked: Someone made a post about "gypsy" inspired fashion on a fashion blog. I commented that I have heard the word gypsy is considered a slur and another person agreed with me. However, the writer responded that they do not find it offensive "anymore to anyone". For one reason being that communities are letting cameras in and having them title shows like 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' and that there have been no confrontations. How can I make them see that it could possibly be offensive to some people?
Remind them they are not the one the slur is directed at so yeah of course it doesn’t offend them.
Anonymous asked: What is your opinion on the Holocaust in Europe in comparison to slavery in the United States? Do you find that they parallel, or was one worse than the other? Why?
Seriously they’re not that comparable, really. I see where you might try to compare them but then that erases the fact that there are/were Black Jews and it also tends to erase the other people that were targeted during the Holocaust including Romani, Black people, Homosexuals and people with disabilities (to name a few)
Essentially it breaks down to, Jewish People were targeted due to their Ethnic Heritage, not their race. One is not more important than the other, but the point still stands.
Anonymous asked: i see a lot of people complaining on tumblr that white artists don't draw enough people of colour, but i also see people of colour complaining when white artists DO portray people of colour in their art. i'm not trying to play devil's advocate, i'm just wondering how a white artist is supposed to navigate this. obviously only portraying white people is problematic but also many POC seem to think it's not within a white artist's rights to draw POCs. thoughts?
Actually not that difficult…it’s just perceived that way cause…I dunno you’d have to think more.
Do Draw PoC! Fanart, original art WHAT HAVE YOU!
Objectify, be racist or attempt to tell PoC struggles without permission/knowledge of the subject/white wash.
If you follow those rules no one is going to care. PoC get upset when White Artists erase their history (“I’m making up my own Indian Folklore.”) or erase part of their identity (I think they look better lighter.)
I’m not gonna be upset if you draw a Native Person, but I am gonna be upset if you draw a Native Princess and you made up your own Cherokee story that has no basis in the actual culture.
I’m not gonna be upset if you draw an Asian person, I am going to be upset if you draw a wholly sexualized Asian person and go “All Asian’s are so sexii, I wish I was Japanese.”
Anonymous asked: Does that kid finnyboy35 think and actual word changes when you change the ending? Smh at this bullshit
So many people think that, you guys don’t know how many asks I get going “Well, what if it’s Nigga’? The slur is Nigger after all.”
Black PoC’s can’t really hear the difference if they’re not close to you.
Anonymous asked: My Native American friend is always talking shit about black people and it's really upsetting. Am I allowed to call this out as a white person?
Ask them about Black Natives, but you can be like “Not cool.” and mention its of the shared past.
Anonymous asked: Can you explain to me what is a "honorary black man" and they exist? just what is the point of that?
ohmygod did you send me this submission???
Okay, Honorary Black Man is when a black friend gives their white/non-black buddy pass to say the N-Word and/or make racist jokes without side eye, eye punches or instantly challenged to game in the shadow realm.
So sometimes I can get the idea? Like “yeah sure, we’re really close, don’t feel awkward around me.”
The problem is that most of these people go “I CAN SAY THE WOOOOORRRRRRRRD” and go around saying it like some kinda racist Dovahkin.
Then when someone, who was not the pass giver, goes “Yo, don’t do that.” They get all “BUT MY BLACK FRIEND SAID.”
Folks who have given “The Pass” need to make sure their bud knows that the pass only protects them from people who were their at the christening. Because if they get knocked out they will blame you.
Folks who have “The Pass”, other PoC that are not the giver…don’t curr. At all. When you say “But my black friend…” we’re done. The conversation ended when your mouth opened.
Anonymous asked: You are an idiot.
Anonymous asked: "This blog is all about calling out all types of racist bullshit, be it overt, casual or subtle." Yet all you do is talk shit about white people and put them down. Not every white person is racist. The average day white person doesn't have control over what happens in the media. We don't have control over what TV executives air, what magazines publish, etc. So shut the fuck up and stop blaming any white person for anything.
Anonymous asked: In regards to the white privilege / slavery post: how does that tie into reparations? Is a one-time cash infusement to all black people from all white people going to actually solve any problem?
Reparations are a personal opinion really…what I feel is that it depends? Money would help tons of people but honestly when wouldn’t it?
The idea behind it is solid I guess?
Personally? As much as I need money? It’s like a band aid, I’d rather comprehensive aid to all PoC. A little more than Affirmative Action, real racism teachings, fixing history classes. That kinda thing.
Anonymous asked: I don't understand why black people are upset at white people living these days for slavery. My great grandparents came from Poland and had absolutely nothing to do with slavery. A LOT of white families have ancestors that came to America after slavery happened, from countries that didn't even have slavery. Why are we still being hated when we never once dealt with slavery?? It's complete and utter bullshit. Us white people today have no control over something that happened so long ago.
Because you White People that had “nothing to do with Slavery” still benefit/ted from White Privilege.
You still are/were offered more opportunities than PoC. If you were white and came over in the 50’s you were still able to do more than a PoC.
So, even if you weren’t around to actually enslave Black People chances are you had the chance to oppress someone else, or even still reap the benefit from the labors of slaves.
